BIOGRAPHY
I’m Danish and consider myself as primarily a Landscape Photographer. I have photographed for about 45 years and prefer Landscape, Architecture and Travel Photography.
I'm fascinated by the early morning where the landscape is still "virgin" and where I mostly have it to myself, but I also like the late evening light, which is often shared with larger crowds.
In the days of the analog film cameras, my favourite film was Fujichrome Velvia - I have tried to bring the expressive color of that film with me into the days of digital. Today I photograph mostly with medium format cameras of the type Fujifilm GFX.
I'm a member of The Danish society for Photography (SDF) where I have been awarded Master SDF (MSDF) and Danish Nature Photographers (NFD). And I'm an ambassador for Focus Nordic (NiSi, Sirui, Think Tank/Mind Shift, Lexar, Valleret) as well as for Fujifilm, Denmark.
I like to complete much of my photography at the place of capture where I can retake the scene until satisfied, so I know what I come home with and can minimize the amount of post processing in front of the computer screen. That is where the NiSi range of filter comes into place enabling me to control exposure both in terms of length of exposure to achieve the expression I want and to control the contrast in the scenes. I hardly ever take pictures without the use of a tripod.
I especially enjoy to have my pictures printed in very large formats up to 2 x 4 meters and that is where the Fujifilm GFX line of cameras becomes an essential part of my photography as they provide me with extreme resolution and detail, both due to the large sensors and as well due to the fine line of Fujinon lenses with high resolving power.
English Photographer Tanya Hames and Danish Photographer Adam Bindslev said following about my work at competition where they acted as judges: The beauty of the landscape In his portfolio, masterful use of colour and light invite the viewer into places and landscapes that are balanced and calm. The sheer beauty of the landscape is laid bare for the viewer to revel in and wonder at.
There is such a sense of tranquillity and serenity in each image, although this feeling is also underlined by a sense of solitude and loneliness because of the lack of a human element. It’s just us, the photographer and the camera – the landscapes are so vivid that we can almost hear the wind and water; the sense of ‘being there’ is intense and almost palpable.
The photographer’s use of lines and perspective to draw the viewer into this world is wonderful, as is the use of depth of field to further enhance the feeling that we could just walk forever through the image, marvelling at the shapes, colours and textures found within the natural world.
Each image in this portfolio is not a fragment of a larger world, but is a complete world contained within each frame. Each image easily stands alone as a glorious testament to the beauty of the landscape, but as a portfolio it has coherence, a common theme and a huge visual impact.
